Parish Clerk / RFO Vacancy – Farrington Gurney Parish Council

Farrington Gurney is seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic person to take on the post of Clerk to the Council and Responsible Financial Officer from February 2022.

The post is part-time working from home for an average of 7 hours per week.  Salary will be salary will be between £11.76 – £12.73 National Pay Scale LC1 (13-17) (above substantive range) dependent upon qualifications and experience.  A laptop and scanner will be provided.

The role involves the management of all Parish Council administration, including the preparation of agendas and minutes, attendance at Parish Council meetings (which are held monthly on the 3rd Monday at 7.30 pm), implementing actions and decisions taken by the Parish Council and dealing with correspondence, as well as the preparation of budgets, financial record keeping, arrangements for audit and updating of the Parish Council website. The Clerk is also required to manage the Village Playground, Allotment sites and arrange the Annual Village meeting.

Good communication and IT skills are essential, as is the ability to work with other people as well as self-managing your own time.  The Clerk is the Council’s adviser on all aspects of its role, which requires sound judgement and discretion.

Prior relevant experience will be an advantage and the Council would support the successful applicant in studying for and achieving the CiLCA qualification.
