Temple Cloud and Farrington Gurney Air Quality Action Plan Consultation is live now!
An Air Quality Management Area (AQMA) has been declared in both Temple Cloud and Farrington Gurney on the basis of exceeding the national objective level for nitrogen dioxide as an annual average. A map of the Temple Cloud AQMA can be found via this link. A map of the Farrington Gurney AQMA can be found via this link.
A draft Air Quality Action Plan (AQAP) has been produced as part of our statutory duties required by the Local Air Quality Management framework. It outlines the action we will take to improve air quality in the villages of Farrington Gurney and Temple Cloud in Bath and North East Somerset between 2020 and 2025.
Air pollution is associated with a number of adverse health impacts. It is recognised as a contributing factor in the onset of heart disease and cancer. Additionally, air pollution particularly affects the most vulnerable in society: children and older people, and those with heart and lung conditions.
Bath and North East Somerset Council is committed to reducing the exposure of people in Bath and North East Somerset to poor air quality in order to improve health.
Our priorities are to reduce emissions produced by traffic, principally by smoothing the flow of traffic and reducing the ‘stop starting’ of vehicles through the villages. Secondly to increase awareness in order to help residents reduce their exposure through making more informed choices.
